# Blazar Core > Blazar Core is a DAW for composers on Windows and macOS that keeps the technical side out of the way: Kontakt libraries one drag from the arrangement, edits at the pointer, four effects blended with one move, scoring to picture, and an AI agent for the busywork. Blazar Core 0.3.9 runs on Windows 10 or later (64-bit) and on macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel). It is made by Alex Pfeffer. The manual below is written for composers; each chapter links to its Markdown. Positions in Blazar Core are written as bar.beat.sixteenth from 1.1.1, and middle C is C3. ## Manual - [Getting started](https://blazarcore.com/manual/getting-started.md): Install Blazar Core on Windows or the Mac, activate it, set up your audio interface and MIDI keyboard, and find your way around the window. - [Projects, saving and templates](https://blazarcore.com/manual/projects.md): Start and open projects, save numbered versions, recover autosaves, and reuse your setups as templates and track presets. - [The arrangement](https://blazarcore.com/manual/arrangement.md): Work with tracks and folders, the rulers, the playhead, locators and loop, the grid, the editing tools, clips and containers, and the hold-Q edit menu. - [Recording](https://blazarcore.com/manual/recording.md): Arm and monitor tracks, record audio and MIDI with a count-in, loop-record and comp takes, and let Blazar Core take care of latency. - [The piano roll](https://blazarcore.com/manual/piano-roll.md): Open MIDI containers in the piano roll, write and edit notes across several tracks, and quantize, humanize or align them to the click. - [Audio editing](https://blazarcore.com/manual/audio-editing.md): Trim, fade and crossfade audio clips, set clip gain, remove silence, warp audio onto the grid, process clips from the edit menu, and edit in Melodyne through ARA. - [Instruments, Kontakt and the browser](https://blazarcore.com/manual/instruments-and-kontakt.md): Load VST3 and CLAP instruments, share one instance between MIDI tracks, mix separate stereo returns, drag Kontakt programs into the arrangement, and play sounds with Kilonova. - [The mixer](https://blazarcore.com/manual/mixer.md): Balance your tracks with faders, gain trim and linked faders, add insert effects and sends, blend effects with Morph, use the built-in channel strip, and read loudness on the master. - [Automation](https://blazarcore.com/manual/automation.md): Draw and record volume automation, record any plugin control into its own lane with Touch, Latch or Write, and automate the Morph orb. - [Blazar Core's own effects](https://blazarcore.com/manual/effects.md): What Singularity, Eclipse, Pulsar, Magnetar, Quasar, Gamma Burst, Neutron, Gap God and Blazar Compressor do, and how to use their controls. - [Tempo, meter and picture](https://blazarcore.com/manual/tempo-and-picture.md): Build a tempo map with jumps and ramps, conduct the tempo by tapping, change time signatures, score to a video in sync to the frame, set timecode, and mark hit points with count-ins. - [Exporting audio](https://blazarcore.com/manual/export.md): Export the mix and any stems in one pass, over the whole song or between the locators, as WAV or FLAC, with send effects and ring-out;
